New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy will hold a joint news conference on the coronavirus pandemic on Friday as both states gradually reopen their economies amid declining cases.

Both Cuomo and Murphy have taken steps over the past week to reopen more businesses in their states as they continue to launch doses of Covid-19 vaccines. Last week, Cuomo said restaurants in New York City could reopen their indoor dining sections with limited capacity starting Feb. 14.

Cuomo also said that the state will take measures to allow the reopening of places for wedding ceremonies starting in mid-March.

Meanwhile, Murphy announced Wednesday that New Jersey restaurants will be able to move their indoor dining operations from 25% to 35% capacity. The state will also allow indoor gatherings for events, such as weddings and funerals, and indoor performance venues to take place at a capacity of 35 percent or with a limit of 150 people, he said.

New Jersey reports a weekly average of 3,973 Covid-19 cases daily, while New York reports an average of 9,722 cases per day, down more than 20% from last week for both states, according to a CNBC analysis of data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
