A pack of young cyclists attacked a BMW in broad daylight in Manhattan, terrorizing the man and woman inside in a terrifying ambush captured in the video.
Several assailants surrounded the luxury march on Fifth Avenue and 21st Street on Tuesday around 4:30 p.m., some pounding the vehicle with their fists and feet and another crushing a bicycle over it, according to a video posted on Instagram by Breaking911.
An attacker started running, threw himself on the hood of the BMW and jumped over the windshield, causing it to partially collapse, the video shows.
“It was an animalistic attack in broad daylight,” said a Manhattan police officer, noting that the occupants of the vehicle, a 50-year-old man and woman, were scared of their lives. “It shows how far the city has deteriorated and it’s better for politicians to get their heads out of the sand and start dealing with these issues before there’s anything left.”
The same group similarly attacked a taxi a while later, the source said.
Both incidents are being investigated.
It was not clear immediately before the savage incident or if any arrests were made.
