(Cnn in Spanish) – Apple held its virtual spring event under the slogan “Spring charged”, where it presented, among other things, the rumored and long-awaited AirTag, iPhone 12 in purple and new and colorful iMac – powered by Apple M1 chip – among other product updates and existing brand services.
Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, kicked off the event on the company’s campus in Cupertino, California. He began by highlighting the company’s commitment to the environment. In anticipation of Earth Day, Apple has announced the development of a sustainable forest restoration fund, the Restore Fund. He also spoke about the goal of becoming a 100% carbon-neutral company by 2030, including its production line and products.
Here’s everything Apple unveiled on Tuesday:
Family Apple Card arrives
The first announcement of the technology giant was the introduction of the “Apple Card Family”. It is a financial service that will allow people to share an Apple Card account and create a shared credit history.
According to Tim Cook, this solution “will help build financial equity.” Now, anyone over the age of 13 can use their family Apple Card account, have access to the same account rights, and create a credit history. It can also be shared with children, as it offers credit limits and parental controls to help teach safe financial habits.
Apple Card is the Apple credit card issued by Goldman Sachs, available only to iPhone users. It will be available in May in the United States.
New podcast subscriptions
Apple has announced a new paid subscription service called “Apple Podcast Subscriptions.” It is a space where users will have access to new series and exclusive content and content without advertising. In May, Apple will also introduce Channels in its podcast service, which will be groups with clean content that users will be able to explore more easily.
Apple Podcast subscriptions will be available in 170 regions and countries starting in May. Podcast creators will set their own prices, which may vary. Apple has Family Sharing, so up to six family members can share a podcast subscription.
The new iPhone 12 in purple
The iPhone 12, both the standard version and the mini model, receive a new color, purple. Apple’s latest phone features 5G technology, the A14 Bionic chip, a Ceramic Shield edge-to-edge LED display that promises to be “four times more drop-resistant.”
The iPhone 12 in purple will be available for booking starting Friday and will go on sale on April 30.
Finally AirTag arrives
Apple AirTag is one of the new versions of the company. Although it has been rumored for some time about this novelty, today Apple officially presented it.
AirTag is a small round-tab Bluetooth locator that connects to Apple’s Find My app and helps you find items such as keys, wallets, laptops, or even your car. According to Apple, the AirTag “is designed to track things, not people,” so it keeps anonymous users’ location data encrypted from end to end.
Apple Bluetooth Finder is made of stainless steel and resistant to water and dust. Can be personalized with emoji or words. The pre-sale of AirTag starts on April 20 and will be available from the 30th of the same month. The price for a single unit is 29 USD or you can buy four for 99 USD.
Apple TV 4K and controls Siri
Apple has introduced the next generation of Apple TV 4K that integrates the A12 Bionic chip – also present in the iPhone – and which displays HDR images with high frame rates. The company said users will be able to use the iPhone’s camera sensor to calibrate the TV’s image.
The Cupertino giant has also introduced a new Siri controller, made of 100% recycled aluminum. It integrates touch navigation controls and a dedicated Siri button on the side.
The new Apple TV 4K will be available for pre-order starting April 30 at a starting price of $ 179. The new Siri remote will be sold separately for $ 59.
Newly colored iMac
Apple has introduced the new and colorful line of the iMac, which incorporates the new M1 chip.
The new iMac series – available in seven colors – offers excellent performance in a design only 11.5 mm thick. According to Apple, the compact design “reduces the volume of the iMac by 50%”. The new iMac has a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display with 11.3 million pixels and integrates for the first time the Touch ID button, which facilitates user access to the computer, allows you to make purchases through Apple Pay, as well as change users quickly.
The new iMac will be available in the second half of May and has a starting price of $ 1,299 for four colors and $ 1,499 for the other three colors with additional features.
The M1 chip comes on the iPad Pro
Apple has announced that its most powerful tablet, the iPad Pro, will now incorporate the M1 chip, which the technology company says is “a huge leap in performance.”
The iPad Pro has a 12.9-inch Liquid Retina display, Thunderbolt support and a new front camera that offers greater depth and access to the “Center Stage” feature. It keeps users in the frame when making video calls and automatically adjusts to the number of people in the frame.
The new iPad Pro will be available for pre-order starting April 30 at a starting price of $ 799.
