New Jackson Heights Clinic Offers Care to Patients Recovering from COVID – Telemundo New York (47)

A new community health clinic specializing in treating patients recovering from COVID-19 has opened in Jackson Heights.

The new clinic, located at 37-50 72th St., is designed to meet the needs of patients recovering from coronavirus. The 26,000-square-foot facility, which has 15 medical specialists, began receiving patients this week.

“We are proud to open this center of excellence in the heart of Queens as part of our commitment to return stronger than ever from this pandemic,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio during the inauguration.

The clinic is one of three hospitals in New York Health + Hospitals “COVID-19 Center of Excellence” in the process of opening. The others are in Bushwick, Brooklyn and Tremont, Bronx.

The mayor announced in June 2020 plans to open the three facilities. The administration has established that the centers will be set up in communities of color affected by COVID-19. And the Jackson Heights neighborhood was a hot spot for the pandemic.

In neighborhood sections, 37% of the population tested for the virus was tested positive, according to the city’s Health Department.

The clinic will provide services such as lung and cardiology care, radiology and diagnostic services and mental health services for those affected by COVID-19. Residents can also visit the site to be tested for COVID-19. The site has 20 exam rooms and a digital imaging suite.

But the unit also provides primary health care for Queens residents, such as cancer screening, dental and vision care, diabetes management, podiatry, adult medicine, pediatrics and more.

“Few locations in the city were more affected at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic than the communities of Elmhurst, Corona and Jackson Heights, the epicenter of the epicenter of this unprecedented public health crisis,” said Queens County President Donovan. Richards.

“The new COVID-19 Center of Excellence in Jackson Heights will provide Queens residents with the critical care they need as they recover from COVID-19,” he added.
