Netflix says it is not currently testing spatial audio support for AirPods Pro and AirPods Max, with a previous report that the support will be released in the spring.
In a statement to MacRumors, a Netflix spokesman says he is not currently testing spatial audio support and does not intend to make this public. Netflix says it is testing multichannel support for built-in speakers as part of its mission to “improve” the service and evaluate “new experiences” for users.
Netflix and AirPods users have been on hand, waiting for the streaming giant to adopt the feature. The pressure on Netflix is no easier, given that some of its biggest competitors, such as Disney Plus, HBO Max and, of course, Apple TV +, all already include spatial audio support.
Spatial audio brings three-dimensional AirPods Pro and irAirPods Max sound. Your iOS device will compare its own data from the gyroscope and accelerometer with the data from irAirPods, to ensure that the sound field remains anchored by the device even if you move your head.
