Every time Toho and Netflix release a new preview for their future Godzilla: Singular Point serial, the anime shows more and more laughing. This huge preview is the most interesting aspect so far, as it reveals a lot of kaiju enemies of the great G will come to the show – although his biggest surprise is that restarting the robot at home Jet Jaguar is a absolute badass.
In addition to the 50 million skinless Rodans flying, I saw Anguirus, Kumonga, the giant spider, which appears to be a clear or water-based version of Hedorah (formerly known as the Smog Monster), something which looks strange as a cross between Baragon and Gabara and a flying monster that can be Battra, Megaguirus or maybe even Chinese Manda, dragon type. There is also something with two huge tentacles that is very reminiscent of Biollante plant monster, except that they appear to be aquatic rather than floral in nature. Sorry to be so vague in some of these, but as you’ll see if you watch the trailer, their appearances blink and you’ll quickly lose them.
Again, the real surprise to me is that Jet Jaguar …whose design in Singular point made a few times more ridiculous by making it pass 90% –it is extremely serious when it comes to fighting kaiju. He is fast, agile and wears a giant scythe, which uses a massive kaiju horn as a blade. It’s just fabulous.
Godzilla: Singular Point will come to Netflix in Japan on March 25, ahead of a country TV show on April 1, and will air internationally on Netflix later this year. If you have information about who kaiju is or if you have noticed others, let us know in the comments!
