Netflix and creators Outer Banks sued for “stealing” conspiracy in their teen drama from author KW Wooten
Freelance author KW Wooten has sued Netflix and the creators of Outer Banks for “stealing” the plot of their teen drama, which began airing on April 15.
In 2016, Wooten released Pennywise: The Hunt for Blackbeard’s Treasure! about four young adults discover the treasure buried in a fabulous shipwreck along the outer shores of North Carolina.
“The archetypes of its protagonists and those of the show are almost identical”, the process claimed – according to TMZ.

“So are the villains – namely a rich benefactor and a corrupt policeman. He also says that the plot is practically the same … including the clues they find and the places where he leads them.
K. (Kevin’s first name) mentioned that co-creators Jonas and Josh Pate said they were inspired by the Outer Banks while living in Wilmington, where he published copies on Pennywise.
Wooten is asking creators (including Shannon Burke) to add a title book to the opening credits, highlighting him and his Goonies-style novel, and he’s also after damage.
Meanwhile, the cast and crew of Outer Banks worked hard to film the second season of The Mystery of the Adventure.
