The least pleasant part of a friendly battle with Nerf is not hit, but you have to stop constantly to reload the blaster. The downside has improved with Nerf’s rival line, which debuted in 2015, but for 2021 the company introduces a Hyper’s new line of blasters which pulls smaller balls of foam so you will spend even less time recharging.

The Rival line wasn’t the first time Nerf had turned into foam balls as an alternative to arrow ammunition, but the real appeal was that he could throw those tiny spheres (which looked like miniature soft golf balls) at speeds up to 70 MPH, or about 100 feet per second. It’s not fast enough to leave a bruise, as paint balls can do, but fast enough to avoid being actively hit during a shootout. For its new Hyper line, Nerf has redesigned those foam balls with a new bouncing material that flies farther and faster, although the high speed at about 110 feet per second is now not the real attraction here.

The small size of the Nerf Hyper ammunition means that a hopper or warehouse has four times the capacity it would have with the Nerf Rival rounds. So a Rival blaster with a 100-hit hopper could, in theory, now hold 400 rounds of Hyper, but since a new and smaller firing mechanism is needed, it looks like the new Hyper balls aren’t compatible. back.

Instead, sometime in 2021, Nerf will launch the Hyper line with three blasters to start: $ 30 Nerf Hyper Rush-40, with a 40-gun pistol and bunker design, $ 40 Nerf Hyper Siege-50 dollars, with a capacity of 50 photos. and a pump-action rifle design, and the $ 70 Nerf Hyper Mach-100 fully automatic, which uses D-size batteries to quickly empty its 100-photo bunker if you hold the trigger.

It is not known if Nerf will continue to add to the Rival line once the Hyper line is available. But with a better distance, higher speeds, higher capacities, and a lower price for each shot (Hyper 200-round refills will sell for under $ 30), it’s hard to imagine fans not looking forward to the new line. and say a tearful goodbye Rival.
