LINCOLN, Nebraska (WOWT) – The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services on Thursday listed the high-risk medical conditions that will qualify those ages 18 to 65 for a COVID-19 vaccine during distribution phase 1B.
The conditions listed include:
- Asthma
- Cancer (currently having cancer)
- Cerebrovascular disease that affects blood vessels
- Chronic kidney disease
- Chronic liver disease
- COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
- Cystic fibrosis
- Chronic lung disease
- Type 1 diabetes
- Type 2 diabetes
- Down syndrome
- Heart conditions such as heart failure, coronary artery disease or cardiomyopathies
- High blood pressure (high blood pressure)
- Neurological disorders (such as dementia)
- Pulmonary fibrosis
- Sickle cell disease
- Thalassemia (a type of blood disorder)
- Weakened immune system due to transplantation of solid organs (kidney, liver, pancreas, heart or lung)
- Weakened immune system by transplanting blood or bone marrow, HIV, using steroids or other drugs
The state also announced that it will receive 21% more doses of COVID-19 vaccination this week to help increase statewide distribution. The 9,550 additional doses will lead to the expected delivery of the vaccine this week to 55,950, up from 46,400 a week ago.
The state’s 19 local health districts are completing the first phase of the campaign, giving priority to health workers and long-term care residents and working to vaccinate those aged 65 and over, as well as key workers.
