Nearly 7,000 fines in France and several mass New Year’s Eve parties

French law enforcement agencies carried out 45,400 inspections on New Year’s Eve and imposed 6,650 fines for non-compliance with the nightcap imposed to try to stop the advance of the coronavirus, on a night marked by several clandestine parties, one of them with almost over 2,500 guests in Brittany.

Interior Minister GĂ©rald Darmanin detailed the day’s figures in a statement today and stressed that the state of competition was respected, especially in Paris, a city that usually has rallies and riots.

The controversy focused on a “rave” in Brittany (west) that brought together about 2,500 people, according to the prefecture, and which lasted today due to the inability of the police to end the meeting. .

The party took place in an industrial warehouse in the town of Lieuron, about 45 kilometers south of Rennes, where gendarmes who tried to avoid concentration were attacked with objects thrown at them, to the point where a gendarmerie vehicle was set on fire.

In order not to endanger the participants and avoid a blow, on Friday afternoon after half an hour the party had not yet been dissolved, according to BFM TV, it could be tuned only to prevent the participation of new participants. .

Other clandestine parties with several hundred people were evacuated to Marseille and Chelles, on the outskirts of Paris.

To avoid congestion, the government had launched a device with more than 100,000 police and gendarmes across the country, trying to prevent the return of a third wave of coronavirus.

Darmanin noted in the note that although the incidents were “less important” than in previous years, some people violently attacked the police, resulting in 662 arrests and 25 injuries among the security forces.
