Nearly 2 million Americans received the COVID-19 vaccine

ORLANDO, Fla. – As vaccinations continue this week, nearly 2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered across the country in the past two weeks, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

US officials say their goal is to vaccinate 20 million people by the end of December, although health experts believe the timeline could be short because the new year is just a few days away.

“There is no doubt that things are going a little slower than we want. I think we need to step up vaccinations. Take the vaccines to the states, but also the vaccines from the states to the people, ”said Dr. Ashish Jha of Brown University School of Public Health.

The Trump administration, through the US Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Defense, announced last week the purchase of 100 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer.

According to the DOH vaccination report in Florida, 118,764 vaccinations have been administered in the state to date.

In Orange County, data showed that a total of 11,963 people were vaccinated.
