Cardtronics Plc is in talks to accept a $ 1.7 billion offer NCR Corp., according to people familiar with the matter, after the ATM operator overbid Apollo Global Management Inc. and Hudson Executive Capital LP.
Companies could announce a deal as early as Monday, people said, asking not to be identified because the issue is private.
The Apollo consortium has decided not to increase its offer, they added.
NCR earlier this month he offered to buy Cardtronics for $ 39 a share, exceeding the $ 35 a share Apollo and his partner had brought in last year.
Shares of Cardtronics closed trading at $ 40.86 in New York on Friday, giving the Hatfield, England company a market value of about $ 1.8 billion.
A representative for Cardtronics and Apollo declined to comment. NCR and the Hudson Executive could not be reached immediately.
