NBA officials explain why Sixers’ big man, Dwight Howard, was expelled

The Philadelphia 76ers are still abbreviated to the big place for men right now. He is still missing Joel Embiid, while he continues to disintegrate after a bone bruise he suffered on March 12, and because of his trades, they only have one real center on the list and that is Dwight Howard.

The 17-year veteran was thrown out of Thursday’s victory over the Los Angeles Lakers in the first quarter after receiving two technical errors and angering coach Doc Rivers for it. Then he played well on Saturday against the Clippers, but came back with the officials in the fourth.

Howard took two quick techniques and was then thrown for the second game in a row. He finished with nine points and 11 rebounds in the loss in Los Angeles.

NBA official Tony Brothers later spoke to a pool reporter about how Howard was expelled:

He said something contemptuous to the official he was talking to about the official who called the first technical foul.

This was the second technical foul, but what caused the first? The brothers then added:

The first technician was called, he was called for an offensive foul. During the next detention, he ran to the end of the officer who called, pointed to the officer who called and shouted at him and that is why the first technical foul was called.

It’s another lesson to learn to keep a cooler head when things get tough. The Sixers will now continue their journey against the Denver Nuggets at the Ball Arena on Tuesday.
