Musician Nathaniel Rateliff made it his own Saturday night live debuted last night, amaze audiences at home and in the studio with “Redemption”, a cut from his latest album And everything is fine which is featured in the film Justin Timberlake Palmer. After years of growing success, the native of St. Louis, who joined host Regina King on the live broadcast, has had a great year – which also includes some news from the Academy Awards.
Rateliff’s latest project comes from a very intimate place, he says on his website. The rising musician was inspired for his third solo album, not only from the dissolution of his relationship and marriage of 11 years, but also from the death of his close friend and producer Richard Swift. The two quickly became friends, linking themselves to their common experiences, such as growing up in very religious households. Swift died after succumbing to complications from his alcohol addiction. “I wrote ‘And it’s still good’ about Richard, but it could just as easily have been about me,” Rateliff said. “Rush On is for Richard too. We have struggled with many of the same issues. I guess I understood in some ways why he let himself go, so I tried to write from that perspective, to face the emptiness you can’t get rid of and the danger of letting him overtake you.
Spectators who were not aware of the singer and his work went on social media to share their thoughts. The general consensus is that Saturday night live the appearance was an invigorating success.
Since the 2018 divorce, the singer and songwriter revealed that he had some problems deciding what to say in his music. “It took me a long time to be honest with myself and know that [writing about something] it’s part of my process of dealing with things, “he shared Ask. Rateliff was on tour when he started writing about the experience. “I remember writing the songs [for that set] in the desert and it was almost like writing with this prophetic sense, letting your subconscious go to places … But I said to myself, “Well, I can’t really say that. That gives too much information. ”
I think that’s very cool #SNL could reserve a relatively niche act, an alternative rock type for adults, like Nathaniel Rateliff, who obviously kills him here. It brings me back to the 2007 era of very cool indie rock actions every week.

As mentioned, his recent single “Redemption” can be heard in the latest Apple TV movie Palmer, starring Justin Timberlake. The film follows a former high school football star (Timberlake) who, after spending 12 years in prison, returns home to rebuild her life and career. Alisha Wainwright, who many might remember from the scandal that took place in 2019, also stars in the film. “For me, the play is about what I saw in the film and what I see there in the world, to keep fighting until we find some kind of peace and some kind of response,” Rateliff said in an interview with variety. “It’s about hope and connection. At the end of the song, the line “we keep running until we learn to find peace” appears, “he added.
