1. At the end of Wednesday Good morning football, Nate Burleson quickly changed the subject from Senior Bowl to the annoying arrest of Seahawks offensive line officer Chad Wheeler.
Wheeler was arrested Monday night on suspicion of serious domestic violence and released on $ 400,000 bail on Tuesday. According to the police report, Wheeler assaulted his girlfriend after telling her to bow to him and she refused. Obviously, this is not a story that the NFL wants plastered throughout its network, especially in the run-up to the Super Bowl. But fortunately, that didn’t stop Burleson from giving up the script and tackling the ugly story.
Burleson said in the broadcast that his co-hosts – Kay Adams, Peter Schrager and Kyle Brandt – and the show’s producers did not know he was about to change direction and bring about the arrest of Wheeler’s domestic violence. Here is what he said:
“Remember. If someone goes out to the Senior Bowl, they go out to the NFL. But guys, I have to take a strong left turn. There’s something that was in my heart and I hate to do that at the end of the show, but something annoying that “It happened in Seattle. There’s a lineman, Chad Wheeler, who got his girlfriend. And being a Seattle Seahawk, I feel like our show never strays from these tough topics and I didn’t want to now. I know you probably “I don’t want to go for three hours and not mention that. Domestic violence is a small reflection of the NFL. There are more good guys than bad guys. It’s also a reflection of society. We often say that “There’s no room in the game for that. We should always say there’s no room in society for that. I just hope the Seattle and NFL authorities do it right. I hate to do that at the end of the show, but we walked for three hours and we didn’t.” I just want to make sure we are talking about domestic violence because it is a problem. ”
It took courage for Burleson to mention Wheeler’s arrest, without his colleagues or producers knowing he would do so. And it shows why Burleson is a rising star in the world of sports media. Not many people risk annoying the highest, becoming dishonest. Remember, he did this on the NFL Network.
I spoke to Burleson after the show and asked him if he had received a blow from his bosses for bringing Wheeler’s arrest. “I got a call after the show,” Burleson said, “but no one said I shouldn’t have done that … They just said, ‘We don’t mind you taking a position like that. Just give us a upside down so we can give you the right room to talk about it.You know, I had a graphic picture on the screen about the Senior Bowl when I brought it up, but no one said I shouldn’t have do. “
Burleson added: “It was hard for my heart. As I walked through the show, I thought, “I didn’t touch it and a few days passed.” I wanted to make sure we handled every situation like this the same way. I don’t take domestic violence easily. We talk about this in several forms.
“I didn’t want to introduce myself or say that this guy should be kicked out of the league. It is not black vs. white, old vs. young, beginner vs. It’s correct vs. wrong ”.
2. If you’re a Warriors fan, we recommend that you start sending Steph Curry’s hate tweets during games.
Andrew Bogut revealed on Snape Bugs podcasts that Curry would check Twitter during the break of games for motivation.
“Steph is part of the elite in terms of preparing for the games,” Bogut said. “He’s one of the only ones where … he’s going to check his mentions at the break when he’s a bad half. He’s kind of the craziest sh– I’ve ever seen. When I first joined the league, the phones they were kind of frowning in the locker room for the most part, now it’s a show f — ing s —.
“If he had a bad half, he would enter the social networks, then he would go out and throw 30.”
