Former San Juan mayoral candidate for the Citizen Victory Movement, Manuel Natal Albelo, reacted this afternoon to Alexandra Lúgaro’s announcement of her resignation from Puerto Rico’s electoral policy.
Natal Albelo assured that Lúgaro is the “bravest” person she knows and that “courage, combined with a deep love for the country, determined him to completely change Puerto Rican politics in less than 6 years”.
The former representative also assured that Lúgaro changed the “old politics” from his independent candidacy for the interior and “inspired a new generation to actively participate in politics, especially in electoral politics”.
Natal Albelo, who is also the former candidate’s partner, stressed that she was subjected in her political years “to the strictest control and sometimes the most violent and discriminatory attacks that any politician has received in the modern history of our Country. “.
This decision was announced by Lúgaro in an open letter through social networks, where he assured that his intention was never to be political or to aspire to a candidacy, but that he did it in disagreement with the reality of the Island.
For her part, Natal Albelo thanked Lúgaro for “not taking off, because it made the path less steep for those of us who came back.”
