Nassau County’s ticket system for the COVID-19 vaccine will begin on Monday

After the Florida Department of Health in Nassau County received a “very limited” supply of Moderna COVID-19, the county announced a plan to begin distributing the vaccine.

Greg Foster, director of Nassau County, said Sunday that the county will begin a ticket process through Eventbrite on Monday, allowing people to get a ticket online and receive e-mail instructions on how to schedule their meeting and where.

Foster said the county has decided to go with this process in an attempt to avoid problems with blocking telephone lines or websites and to prevent residents from having to camp overnight. This was the case in St. Louis County. Johns when the county operated on the principle of first come, first served.

Foster said health care workers in direct contact with patients who have not received a vaccine through their employers, and those over the age of 65 can visit www.OneNassau.com, find the “COVID VACCINE” button and follow the instructions there to begin the scheduling process.

The county health department will explain to those who receive photos how and when they will receive the second shot.

According to Foster, the supply is expected to increase in the next few weeks, but it could still be in limited allocations.

“We received fewer doses than some counties, so we focused on vaccinating the most vulnerable in our community, the most needy, as soon as possible. Now, we can begin to meet the guidelines set by the governor and begin the process of providing vaccines to residents over the age of 65, ”said Foster. “For now, it’s a slow process, but we’re working hard to vaccinate everyone.”

The State Department of Health has already begun delivering vaccines to front-line medical staff and other members of Nassau County’s medical staff, according to emergency management officials.
