“On Tuesday, we began an investigation that dealt a severe blow to drug trafficking in the region: 500 kg of cocaine, valued at $ 12.5 million, a 22-year-old Guatemalan man captured and a dead man” during a shooting generated “when the criminals tried to flee,” prosecutor Raúl Melara said on Twitter.

The seizure was carried out by the operational tactical maritime reaction section (STORM) of the police.

This is the first seizure of drugs by boat recorded this year, in 2020 the seizures were not many compared to previous years.

According to police data, between January and December 2020, they confiscated 2,933.5 kilograms of various types of drugs, with a value of 48,530,908.03 USD.
