Napa County said new cases of COVID-19 increased by 26% per week. However, the total of 127 cases was the second lowest since October.

The county reported two deaths a week, which was the lowest total in nine weeks.

Of the recent cases, 52% were women, 49% were identified as Hispanic / Latinx, and people under 20 accounted for the highest proportion of cases: 27%. The second largest proportion, 18%, were people aged 40 and over.

After shipping delays due to unfavorable weather in the Midwest, vaccinations soared, with 7,380 doses given during the week, bringing the number of doses in December for Napa County residents to 48,715, the county said.

Local hospitalizations due to COVID have dropped to nine since Friday, the lowest total in several months.

The county reported this week that Napa County will move from purple to red on March 10, if the number of cases and other key indicators remain low. This would ease many restrictions on the business and activities of the community.
