A burglar left a British mother devastated after leaving with more than $ 5,000 in Christmas presents – including gifts for her disabled child.
That’s until heartbroken strangers came to the rescue, according to a report.
Courtney Farnell, 21, had scraped all year to give her 16-month-old daughter “the best Christmas a mother could give,” but instead moved into a home. robbed on Christmas Eve, reported The Sun.
“I walked in the front door,” Farnell told the newspaper. “I took Minnie out of the car and approached the house. I could see all my belongings everywhere. “
“All the gifts are gone,” she said. “Everything I got for my family, for my daughter.”
“It simply came to our notice then. They stole my little girl. “
Courtney, who lives in Leeds, in the north of England, said she took her little girl on a 30-minute journey late Wednesday to calm her down and returned around midnight on Thursday to find out that the thieves had done it at home.
The stolen gifts included new Xbox and PlayStation consoles, a laptop, a camera and gifts for her little girl, Courtney said on a GoFundMe page she created.
“I’m absolutely heartbroken, we don’t even know how much Christmas we have with Minnie,” she wrote. “He has brain damage, epilepsy, global developmental delays and much more. All I wanted was an amazing Christmas for her. “
“I spent my last penny making this Christmas special for her and I was left with nothing.”
Her plea for help did not go unnoticed.
By Christmas morning, her fundraising page had raised more than $ 4,000 – more than twice the amount she had asked for.
“I want to thank everyone who helped and donated,” she told The Sun. “It simply came to our notice then. Christmas saved us. “
