My experience with COVID vaccine: I experienced fatigue and joint pain the day after vaccination

Dr. Parag Amin was vaccinated at a private hospital and everything was fine that day, however, the next day he suffered from fatigue and mild headaches and joint pain. He recovered after taking paracetamol. Here is his story

Ever since the Government announced that it will undertake vaccination for every citizen, we have been waiting for more details to come on how and when it will be done and for whom it will be done, etc. announcing details about who will be vaccinated first, etc. Unity began and so did the curiosity of people like me to know “how it was.” Some of the obvious questions that came to my mind were: “is it painful”, “how long does the pain last”, “would there be side effects”, “would it have any long-term impact”, virus “,” there would be a fever after the vaccine “, etc. Meanwhile, my mother, who is 75 years old, was vaccinated and some of these questions were answered.

A few days after the government announced the opening of the vaccine for citizens over the age of 45, my wife and I decided to book an appointment through the Arogya Setu application. We have consciously decided to opt for the “paid” category so that “unpaid” can be made available to people who deserve it. I booked an appointment for myself and the appointment was given for April 6 at Jupitor Hospital, Thane. Consequently, I arranged / adjusted my official appointments for April 6 and 7, as recommended by most of those who took the vaccine before me. I was prepared for a surprise when I landed at Jupitor Hospital at the appointed time. The volunteer there didn’t find my name on his list. I showed him the screenshot of the meeting only to find that the appointment was actually for March 6 and not April 6. This was apparently a problem in the Arogya Setu app, as we booked our meeting in the last week of March. Also, the vaccination was not opened for 45 years and over on March 6. After showing this to the volunteer, he advised me to book an appointment again. Fortunately, I made an appointment for the next afternoon at Highway Hospital, Thane. This time, I double-checked to make sure the date was really April 7th.

I arrived at the hospital at that time and was immediately taken to a waiting room where they issued a token to me and checked my details. For the next 5 minutes, I was ushered into a room and put on a comfortable chair while the doctor prepared to inject the vaccine. As is the predominant trend, I called the nurse to take a picture of me while I was getting vaccinated! The whole process took over 5 minutes, after which I was forced to stay in an adjoining room for 30 minutes. There were a few others sitting there waiting for 30 meters to pass so they could be free. A volunteer saved time and left it to those “whose time has passed” !! He also advised everyone to take a paracetamol tablet in case of body aches, headaches or fever. I left the room after the waiting period and left the hospital with a sense of accomplishment and pride.

After I got home, I witnessed some official engagements and was absolutely fine until early in the evening. Around 7 pm, I started to feel a little tired and I started to have a slight headache, as well as to feel feverish. When I checked the temperature, it was 98. Before going to sleep that night, I took a paracetamol tablet as recommended. I couldn’t afford to be down the next day because I had several official commitments.

I woke up the next day (April 8) feeling a little under the weather. The slight headache continued and in the afternoon she began to feel feverish again. I also started to have joint pain and I was very uncomfortable throughout the day. That night, I had another tablet of paracetamol and slept reassuringly that the next day, I would be absolutely fine.

Fortunately, my insurance worked and I woke up at 9 feeling completely fit and well. Overall, I am happy with the experience, because now I have a new story to tell !!
