Voting Hall of Fame seems easy – for all those who did not vote. But ask any of us who do. We could think of 1,000 adjectives to describe the Hall of Fame vote. I guarantee that “easy” would not make the first 1,000.
I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who throws and comes back at 4 in the morning, thinking about the ballot. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one stuck on a name or two or three, whole days and often weeks.
I always try to be aware that when you vote for one of these ballots, it is a serious responsibility. So we all have to take it so seriously.
I also try to be aware that everyone who has read this far cares deeply about the Hall of Fame. So I owe you this column. I owe you an explanation for everything related to this ballot. It’s true, whether you like it or hate it.
If it didn’t matter to so many of you, there would be no reason to have a Hall of Fame. So…
