Municipalities with high COVID-19 transmission increase to 64

Department of Health published this afternoon the weekly report on the community transmission of COVID-19 in Puerto Rico, where it revealed that 64 municipalities on the island are at a high level of transmission of COVID-19.

This figure marks an increase of 26 cities compared to those reported last week.

The town halls of red level infections are: Aguadilla, Aguas Buenas, Aibonito, Arecibo, Arroyo, Barranquitas, Bayamón, Cabo Rojo, Caguas, Camuy, Canóvanas, Carolina, Cataño, Cayey, Ceiba, Ciales, Cidra, Comerío, Corozal, Culebra, Florida, Guayanilla, Guaynabo, Gurabo, Guánica, Hatillo, Hormigueros, Humacao, Isabela, Jayuya, Juana Díaz, Juncos, Lajas, Lares, Las Marías, Las Piedras, Loíza, Luquillo, Maricao, Maunabo, Mayagüez, Moca, Morovis, Naguabo, Naranjito , Orocovis, Patillas, Quebradillas, Rincón, Río Grande, Sabana Grande, Salinas, San Juan, San Lorenzo, San Sebastián, Santa Isabel, Toa Alta, Toa Baja, Trujillo Alto, Utuado, Vega Alta, Vega Baja, Villalba and Yauco.

None of the schools on the island can teach classes in person, as ordered by Health last week. The return to the virtual courses of the schools became effective on Monday, April 12, and will continue for two weeks.

On the other hand, there is 12 municipalities with substantial transmission. These are: Adjuntas, Aguada, Añasco, Barceloneta, Dorado, Fajardo, Guayama, Manatí, Peñuelas, Ponce, San Germán and Yabucoa.

Of the remaining cities, Coamo is found in moderate transmission level Yes Vieques at low transmission level.

Currently, there are 181.01 active cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 population in Puerto Rico, according to the Health report.

The positivity rate continues to rise today to 15.75%, on a day when the agency reported 827 additional cases confirmed by COVID and 265 probable.

The deaths reported today were 12 more, putting Puerto Rico with a cumulative total of 2,174 virus deaths.
