Ms. World, Caroline Jurie, gave up the title, said the organization organizing the contest late Tuesday, weeks after she was involved in a controversy at Ms. Sri Lanka’s event.

“Her decision to resign was made exclusively by Caroline herself,” Ms. World Inc. said late Tuesday in a social media release.

Jury was not immediately available for comment.

Kate Schneider from Ireland, the finalist of the 2020 competition that Jury won, will be the new lady of World 2020, the organization said.

The organization said it was a local issue for the country’s competition organizers to review and would have no influence on the Mrs World 2021 competition that Sri Lanka would host this year.

The winner of Sri Lanka’s competition, Pushpika De Silva, filed a complaint against Jurie. Read more

Jurie was arrested when she visited a police station to record her statement.

The winner of the Mrs Sri Lanka contest will compete in the Mrs World contest. Jurie won the Mrs Sri Lanka crown in 2019 and won the Mrs World crown in 2020 in Las Vegas.
