The driver was driving with another young man, when he apparently lost control of the car and crossed the rock. He died immediately.
José Leonel Marroquín Alvarado, 29, has died and Harold Acevedo, 19 he was seriously injured when they fell into a ravine about 30 meters deep in the vehicle they were driving, police reported.
The accident occurred this afternoon on the old street to Lake Coatepeque, in the canton of La Laguna, in Santa Ana.
According to lifeguards from Cruz Verde El Congo, who responded to the emergency, the driver of the vehicle lost control of his car on a curve and flew a few meters to the bottom of the abyss.

Following the impact, Marroquín’s body was shot from the vehicle and died immediately due to multiple blows, authorities detailed. The young man who accompanied him was taken to the emergency hospital in serious condition.
“I will miss him,” said the brother of the deceased young man, while he was comforted by other relatives.

According to rescuer Edwin Alcántara, ropes, ladders and other special equipment were needed to recover the body. The rescue was carried out together with several aid institutions and lasted 1 hour and a half due to the resistance of the area.
According to residents, this is the first time this type of accident has occurred in the area.
