The Mortal Kombat teaser has already blown away fans’ expectations due to its uncensored brutality and modern adaptation of the history of classic video games. All the fighters are there: Scorpio, Sob-Zero, Sonya, Kano and even Goro. And, as its director explains, the title is not accidental, because the chaos and death that will be unleashed are unprecedented in the history of cinema.
In an interview with Collider on set, McQuoid said that visually, the fights with Mortal Kombat are more like a dance movie, in the sense that everything was choreographed to the millimeter with real martial artists to create a sense of authentic fighting. .
The director added that the battles in Mortal Kombat have a dual function, being both impressive action sequences and serving to communicate the emotions and feelings of the characters. In addition, he boasted that the purpose of the film from the beginning was “to make the best fight scenes ever filmed.”
Of course, judging only by the trailer, the director does not lack reason. We may have exaggerated with these “best fight scenes”, but there is no doubt that Mortal Kombat, thanks to its adult rating, will be one of the most shocking and surprising audiovisual shows of the year.
And that everything the famous video game franchise did, its fierce battles and extreme violence, were faithfully represented in the film.
