More than 80 counties in Illinois have extended COVID vaccine eligibility to state residents 16 years of age and older, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Citing a survey of local health departments in the state, IDPH launched a list of counties that have already extended their eligibility a week before the state has the same thing. There are a total of 102 counties in the state.
The state had previously authorized any local health department “seeing early signs of unfulfilled meetings to begin vaccinating all residents over the age of 16, at their immediate discretion, to use their vaccine as soon as possible and to mitigate the increase in cases.” of COVID-19, “IDPH said.
As of April 12, state-level eligibility is expected to increase for all residents over the age of 16, although it remains unclear whether Chicago will join the rest of the state in this regard.

According to IDPH, the expansion will mean that all state-supported mass vaccination sites, local health departments and pharmacy partners receiving vaccine from the state allocation “will be trained to fully open eligibility.”
