More than 5,000 Final Fantasy XIV players have been banned from using or advertising real money trading

Square Enix announced earlier this week that over 5,000 Final Fantasy XIV players were banned after being caught using or advertising for real money in the game.

As observed by PCGamesN, on March 4 editor FFXIV Square Enix revealed via a news post on FFXIV website that 5851 players were banned for their involvement in real or other money trading “prohibited activities. ” 5037 players were banned for direct participation in real money trading. Meanwhile, another 814 players have been banned for simply advertising real money trading.

According to Square Enix the use of real money in the game for transactions or other activities is prohibited in the terms of service, to which players agree before creating an account. Even advertising or just trying using real money is pretty bad that Square Enix will take down the banhammer. All these bans took place between February 25 and March 3.

It’s not the first time Square Enix has revealed a massive wave of account bans. Back in 2019, the publisher has banned over 10,000 players for similar violations in real money trading.
