More than 30,000 international travelers visited Honduras in eight days of Holy Week

During the first eight days of the Easter season, the National Migration Institute’s biometric control system (IN M) have recorded that 30,405 international travelers They entered the country for tourism reasons, with 10,450 of Honduran descent largely living abroad.

69% of the travelers were male and 31% female. “39% of travelers entering Honduran territory have to engage in activities related to tourism,” said the report of the Migration Statistics Unit.

The border delegations with the greatest influx of tourists are La Mesa (25%), El Amatillo (17%), Corinto (14%), Toncontín (11%) and Guasaule (10%). The report matches entries from March 26 to April 2, 2021.

In eight days, there were a total of 30,954 travelers between nationals and foreigners, while for Easter 2019, 97,284 travelers entered within a 10-day period and before 2020, the health emergency due to covid-19 did not allow the arrival of tourists.
