More than 24 windows were smashed at the Jacksonville Post Office overnight

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – More than two dozen windows are under arrest at the U.S. Post Office’s monument station on Fort Caroline Road, and pieces of glass remain scattered outside the building.

A glass door is broken large enough for someone to enter.

After breaking it, it seems that the vandals entered the building, because the glass is also broken inside. It is not known if they escaped with anything.

The door was closed and an indicator pointed customers to two other business locations with post offices, but there were no police officers guarding the unsecured building.

An entrepreneur was seen measuring the windows and told the News4Jax crews that they would come out today at some point, laying plywood to replace the broken windows.

JSO records show that officers responded to the vandalism post office on Wednesday at 8 p.m.

A USPS inspector sent this statement to News4Jax: “The U.S. Postal Inspection Service has responded and is conducting an investigation into the vandalism incident that occurred at the USPS-Monument station on the evening of December 30, 2020,” Adam Schaefer said. , United States Postal Inspector of States. “We would ask anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about potential suspects to contact the U.S. Postal Inspection Service at 877-876-2455.”

Schaefer told News4Jax that they have no surveillance videos to distribute at this time.

News4Jax contacted JSO for more information.
