More than 190,000 Home Depot ceiling fans have been recalled due to reports that the blade flew and hit people

Ceiling fans sold by Home Depot are recalled because of the potential for the blades to come off during use and cause injury, CBS reports.

The U.S. Product Safety Commission has issued a recall notice for the 54-inch Mara indoor / outdoor fans in Hampton Bay, produced by Florida manufacturer King of Fans. Prior to the recall, 47 reports were made on the detachment of the blades on this model. In two incidents, the dishonest blade struck someone, and in four separate incidents, the dislocated blade caused property damage.

The home improvement store, which sold more than 190,000 ceiling fans, was the only retailer of the now-recalled product. About 182,000 were sold in the United States, and another 8,800 were sold through Home Depot in Canada.

Fans were available online and in stores from April to October for about $ 150.

Withdrawal notice instructs those who have purchased defective fans to avoid further use and to contact the manufacturer for a free replacement.

“Consumers should immediately stop using ceiling fans and inspect ceiling fans using the instructions at www.kingoffans.com/MaraRecall.htm or by visiting the QR code listed in the recall press release,” the notice reads. “If consumers notice blade movement or uneven gaps between the blades and the fan body or the movement of the clip during the inspection, consumers should contact King of Fans immediately for a free replacement ceiling fan.”
