More than 100,000 people have not completed the process of extending the unemployment benefit

He Department of Labor and Human Resources (DTRH) reported today, Thursday, that over 100,000 people currently benefit from insurance benefits for unemployment he could lose his qualification because they have not completed the process of extending payments for another 13 weeks.

Carlos Rivera Santiago, the secretary of DTRH, indicated in a written communication that the agency sent several messages and notifications to the affected persons, but, at this moment, they did not complete the process.

Recipients of the Emergency Unemployment Compensation Program (PEUC) have until December 26 to submit the necessary documentation, while people covered by the Loss of Assistance Program (LWA) will have until the 27th of this month .

Rivera Santiago emphasized that the procedures did not apply to applicants receiving payments from Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Program, the PUA.

In the specific case of claimants who qualify for the extension of benefits for a total of 13 additional weeks, there are approximately 72,962 cases, while another 29,439 do not certify their weeks to receive a retroactive payment of $ 300 per week that would total $ 900. We urge them to handle complaints at or before deadlines, “the official said.

We have notified all these applicants that they are eligible for these programs through our social networks, email and text messages on various occasions. We comply with the regulations and processes established by the federal government to dispose of these compensations, but the plaintiffs must do their part “, added Rivera Santiago.

In case of extension of benefits, the applicant can complete the complete process online: in the “Claim later weeks” section select “PEUC” and answer the benefit questions.

In the meantime, in the case of “LWA” certifications, the claimant only needs to enter the social security number and PIN number and mark “certification”. Both processes can be found in the online services section of DTRH portal.

On the other hand, Rivera Santiago explained that people whose unemployment cases have controversial points or face a certain type of problem in the system and have failed to carry out LWA certification, have not claimed the weeks corresponding to August and early. In September, they will be able to complete their certification for eligibility under the Lost Wage Assistance (LWA) program.

“This certification is also available on our website, the applicant must complete it and send it via ‘loader’,” Rivera Santiago pointed out.
