More than 100 murder charges are being filed against Wasa and 6 others

Judge Sonya Y. Nieves Cordero of the Court of First Instance determined the probable cause of arrest on charges of murder and violation of the Weapons Act against seven defendants, beginning with Carlos M. Cotto Cruz known as “Wasa” and wanted by federal authorities, as well as Carlos A. Benítez Rolón v. Charlie; Pedro Ocasio Hernández c / p Chino; Arsenio Laborbe Figueroa c / p Canito; John Doe c / p Gemelo and two other defendants for events that took place on December 4, 2020 in Las Delicias Street, El Bosque sector of San Lorenzo.

From the investigated events, it is clear that the accused, by mutual agreement and by mutual agreement, pursued and orchestrated a double murder, in which two other persons were also wounded with a firearm. The investigation was carried out by prosecutor Maribel Mojica Franceschi in coordination with agent Anthony Egea Guardarama of the Homicide Division, CIC de Caguas of the Puerto Rico Police Office.

The seven defendants were charged with two counts of Article 93 – Murder, one charge of Article 93 in his trial; a fee for Article 244 Conspiracy. Six charges under Article 6.05 Unlicensed transport, transport or use of firearms have also been filed under the Weapons Act; two charges under Article 6.09 Illegal transport, possession or use of a semi-automatic, automatic or barrel-cut long weapon; five counts for Article 6.14 Firearms.

Judge Nieves Cordero set a comprehensive bail for each of the 7 defendants, worth $ 2,550,000. Benítez Rolón’s 2021 preliminary hearing was scheduled for February 3, 2021 and he was imprisoned because he could not provide bail. Judge Nieves Cordero issued arrest warrants for the other six defendants, who were charged in absentia.
