More than one million Utahns have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Utah Department of Health – about 44% of the eligible population over the age of 16.

The total number at the end of Tuesday – 1,013,308 – represents about 30% of Utah’s total population. Only less than 600,000 Utahns have been fully vaccinated (either with both doses of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or with the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine) – representing about 26% of those Utahns eligible to receive the vaccine and about 18% of the total population, according to US census estimates.

“This is a milestone worth celebrating, and we hope that number will continue to grow as more Utahns choose to get vaccinated,” Utah Governor Spencer Cox said in a statement. The speed with which we have managed to vaccinate Utahns is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Utah public health system and our vaccination partners nationwide.
