NBC 5 spoke with a 70-year-old couple who managed to call and find a Super 1 Food pharmacy in Seagoville that would offer vaccines to those aged 65 and over.
They made an appointment and on Tuesday morning they received a Moderna vaccine.
A Texas State Department of Health spokesman spokesman released the following statement to NBC 5:
“We are still in phase 1A, but we have provided guidance to providers who have vaccinated all willing members of phase 1A and have the vaccine available. We’ve added a map of the provider’s location to our website and updated our main vaccine information page with information for the public, advising them to check with providers to find out if they have a vaccine that can be used to vaccinate 1B. The map shows where the vaccine was sent, but does not indicate whether the provider has the vaccine available for the phase 1B population. We want to make it clear that people in phase 1B can consult these providers to determine if they have the vaccine available and can schedule an appointment to be vaccinated at that location. We acknowledge that the available offer is limited, and some providers on the map may have already used all of their allocation. Please let spectators know that Texas will receive more vaccine each week so that people can check the map weekly for up-to-date information.“
