More in Douglas, Sarpy, Cass counties can schedule vaccines on Tuesday

(WOWT) – Below are today’s vaccination updates, as well as data reports on new cases and other COVID-19 statistics reported by health officials in Nebraska and Iowa.

70 years old and older in Douglas County to register for the vaccine

The Douglas County Health Department has announced that those aged 70 and over can start registering for the COVID-19 vaccine starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

To register, go to the Douglas County Department of Health website and click on the link in the big yellow box that says “Sign up for a COVID-19 vaccination appointment.” Those in need of telephone assistance can call the DCHD COVID-19 information line at 402-444-3400.

Several residents of Sarpy, Cass County eligible for the vaccine on Tuesday

Sarpy and Cass County residents who were born in 1951 or earlier (aged 70 or older) will be able to schedule a COVID-19 vaccination meeting starting Tuesday, February 16th.

A notification will be sent to those registered for updates through the county health department or the Nebraska state pre-registration survey, according to a health district statement.

Vaccinations will only be available by appointment.

Those with questions are asked to call 402-339-4334 and select option 1. This phone line will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

To date, the Sarpy / Cass Health Department has reported 112 COVID-19 deaths. According to the COVID-19 scoreboard, the health district reports 670 active cases and a positivity rate of 24.4% as of Saturday. SCHD confirmed 21,305 COVID-19 cases, with 20,523 recovered, since the beginning of the pandemic.

Douglas County reports a positivity rate of 20.7%, several cases

Douglas County Health Department reported 315 new cases Friday. Daily number updates are no longer released over the weekend. The total number of cases in the county since the beginning of the pandemic has now reached 62,745.

The 7-day average of reported cases is 108.

A positivity rate of 20.7% was reported for the week ending Saturday. The positivity rate for the previous week was reported at 20.6%.

No new deaths were reported. The total number of deaths remains at 636.

Vaccination clinics

Douglas County

Until further notice, Douglas County clinics will provide COVID-19 vaccinations to eligible residents at the following times and locations:

  • MARI / MIERI – The Church of the Community of Christ, located at 404 S. 108th St., clinics will offer vaccinations between 9:00 and 17:00
  • WED / FRI – CHI Immanuel Medical Center, located at 72nd Street and Sorensen Parkway, vaccinations will be administered between 9:00 and 17:00
  • JU / SUN – Nebraska Drug Testing and Vaccination Clinic, located at 144th Street and Millard Avenue, vaccinations will be administered from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday.
  • SAT – Rasmussen Center of Creighton University, located at 702 N. 17 St., vaccinations will be administered between 9:00 and 17:00

Pottawattamie County

COVID-19 vaccination clinics will be held Friday, February 12, 19 and 26 at the Mid-America Center.

County residents over the age of 65 are asked to register through the Pottawattamie County vaccination website. Anyone in need of assistance can also contact the Agency for Aging Connection Areas. 712-328-2540 to sign up for a meeting by phone.
