The sensors are placed on the upper connection and in the steering tube
Now, Mondraker wants to put this technology in the hands of its customers, and its flagship models will be equipped with its own integrated system, which provides help in setting up the suspension and tracking running data. The system is called Mind and is a partner with the myMondraker application to eliminate the “feeling” of creating suspension.
Developed over three years, the system will be mounted on the brand’s Foxy Carbon and Crafty Carbon models. Mondraker says that “it will take the maneuverability of the bike to the next level” and represents “an important moment in the future of setting up the suspension and the subsequent experience for the rider”.
The system consists of two sets of components – a magnet mounted on the main pivot that is associated with a sensor on the top link, then another magnet mounted on the top of the fork decreases associated with the main hardware unit that fits in the steering tube. The sensors on the link and in the steering tube detect the strength of the magnetic fields 100 times per second to determine how far they move; the farther you go, the stronger the signal detected by the magnets. This information is added to the GPS data that the system also collects, and all is returned to the myMondraker app, which can tell riders to make changes to all settings, including preloading, compression, and weight and style recovery. their leadership.
Mondraker says, “Do you want to compare the lines on a descent? Your mind gives you all the information you need to decide whether to take the left or right line. The passage after landing a jump? The mind tells you where, when and how it happened and shows you if you need to improve your technique or adjust your suspension settings for next time. “
This system may be less sophisticated than the aftermarket systems listed above, which may include accelerometers, gyroscopes, and brake sensors, but it is certainly a new and cheaper way to address the issue that should take some of the mysticism out of it.
Other features
The system can also measure a variety of other data bits, including travel data, such as average speed, total distance, time and height gain, and all of this can be shared with apps like Strava or Facebook. It also tracks your total broadcast time and this can be overlaid on maps.
Finally, the system has a built-in alarm and anti-theft system. If the bike is moved, the user will receive a warning on his smartphone and, if it turns out that the bike is stolen, the application will help the user to track his position.
The complete Mind system adds about 200 grams of weight to the bike. There are separate batteries for the front and rear sensors that offer 20 hours of continuous operation or 15 days of standby life. Each system is linked to the serial number of a bicycle, so apparently it cannot be transferred between bicycles.
Initially, the system will only be available to European customers and Foxy Carbon and Crafty Carbon models, however, it intends to implement the system in its full range in the future. The system adds 200-300 euros to the price of the bike, depending on the model, the models start at 7,499 euros for Crafty Carbon and 4,999 euros for Foxy Carbon. More information here.
