Call of Duty: Modern Warfare PlayStation 5 players began to experience a frustrating error. Apparently, players who want to uninstall the game have found that they must manually uninstall all data packets in the game first. If this step is not done first, players will not be able to download the data packets again. Puzzled-Soup brought the issue to light on Reddit, saying that the game claims that everything is installed, but this is not the case. After trying several potential fixes, the only possible solution that Puzzled-Soup managed to discover is to install the game on a PS4 and then transfer the save data to the PS5.

It is impossible to say what is causing this problem, but the solution is not very elegant. A lot of gamers tend to get rid of their older consoles once they buy a new one, so not every PS5 owner will have a PS4 on hand to transfer saved data. It remains to be seen whether or not Activision will find out, but it is easy to see how frustrating this could be. In response to Puzzled-Soup’s post, a number of other Reddit posters shared similar issues, with one saying he got out of the game altogether as a result.
Unfortunately, Call of Duty games have had some notable issues on the latest generation consoles since the launch of PS5 and Xbox Series X in late 2020. In particular, call Duty: Black Ops Cold War Xbox Series X gamers have experienced a number of issues with the game crash. It’s not uncommon for developers to run into problems with the new video game’s hardware, and it’s clear that Activision is still figuring things out. Unfortunately, this does not help any of the fans who have to wait in the meantime for fixes.
