MLB Health and Safety Protocols for the 2021 Season – The Athletic

The health and safety protocols agreed by the Major League Baseball and Major League Baseball Players Association on Monday night are similar to what they were in the 2020 season, but with a few twists.

Players, similar to their NFL and NBA counterparts, will wear sensors that allow clubs to monitor social distance and track contacts if an individual is positive. And, unlike last season, the first played during the COVID-19 pandemic, they will be subjected to a potential discipline for violating protocols, including suspensions or loss of salary if they lose time.

Many of the changes the league and union have adopted for the 60-game season in 2020, including seven-inning doubles and a new extra-inning rule will remain in place.
