Minnesota Vikings WR Justin Jefferson sets Super Bowl rookie record for court record

Viking wide receiver Justin Jefferson took full advantage of a game with little on the line between Minnesota and Detroit Lions, engraving his name in NFL history twice on Sunday afternoon.

Entering Week 17 with 1,267 receiving yards, Jefferson needed 111 yards at the end of the Vikings season to set a new Super Bowl record (since 1966). He broke the record set by Arizona’s Anquan Boldin (1,377) in 2003 when he caught a 37-yard pass from quarterback Kirk Cousins in the fourth quarter. The first round is now the second of all time behind Houston’s Bill Groman, who holds the record for the 1,473-meter receiving novice set in 1960.

Prior to that, Jefferson set a franchise debut for the courts. Wearing custom studs that paid homage to Randy Moss Hall of Famer, Jefferson caught a 15-meter run in the third quarter to break the Moss receiver record (1,313) set by Moss in 1998.

Last month, Jefferson surpassed the 69-catch mark on Moss’s season in his debut season. Sunday was the seventh spring game of the season for the former LSU star.
