Minister María Chichilco hospitalized after complications from COVID-19 | News from El Salvador

The Minister of Local Development, Ofelia Navarrete, better known as María Chichilco, is hospitalized at El Salvador Hospital due to complications from COVID-19.

The information was revealed on Twitter by the candidate for the position of deputy for La Libertad of the New Ideas party, Walter Alemán. He added that the official will be in a “recovery phase” after presenting an image of COVID-19.

On December 24, the candidate published a photo in which Chichilco is seen surrounded by medical staff in the hospital in what would be hours before Christmas Eve.

Other government officials also confirmed that the minister is in a medical center and wished him a speedy recovery through social media.

At present, it is not known from what date the official was hospitalized.
