Mojang announced yesterday that Minecraft Dungeons Arcade the cabinets are on the road to arcade in North America for limited testing, with more cabinets coming at the end of this year.

Released last year on Xbox One and PC, Minecraft dungeons is a Diablo– like the dungeon crawler, located in the blocked world of Minecraft. Up to four players can jump together and fight the waves Minecraft enemies such as skeletons, zombies, and spiders. Now there is a new one, less convenient, and asure way to play Minecraft dungeons. Go to an arcade (during pandemic) to play the new Minecraft Dungeons Arcade game, developed by Play Mechanix and Mojang.

As explained in a blog post announcing the new arcade machine, Minecraft Dungeons Arcade will take the action and play of the original game and simplifies things a little bit to work better like cooperative arcade game. Players will even win various physical transactions books you can collect and scan in the car to get new powers, weapons, and pets.

And the cabinet looks great, and the in-game screenshots shared by Mojang look great. Everything sounds beautiful. But I can’t imagine venturing into the world right now, during the covid-19 pandemic, just to play an arcade game that other people may have just touched and played a few moments before. Especially when that game is available at home and is good there.

Mojang pointed out that I only send cabinets to the arcades thatfollow local health instructions ”so that helps to slow down the spread of the covid and to attenuate it risk. But maybe that could have waited until this summer, after there were several people vaccine?
