Milly Quezada states that she did not receive money from the Government to hold concerts

Artist Milly Quezada said she did not receive money from the Social Policy Cabinet to hold Christmas parties in December 2020.

Through her representative, Pedrito Núñez, the prominent merengue performer stated that she was contacted by the Cabinet of Social Policies, but made it a condition to receive the money by contract when she made artistic presentations.

He explained that since there were no contracts or presentations, Quezada never received the money given by the government to other artists as a way to help them cope with the crisis caused by the covid-19 pandemic.

The clarification is due to the fact that the name of the popular meringue was accidentally spread along with other colleagues who benefited from the aforementioned initiative.

It is recalled that yesterday Monday, the General Directorate of Public Procurement (DGCP) suggested identifying and sanctioning officials responsible for hiring 54 artists by the Cabinet of Social Policies.

The contracts said that the proper administrative process was not being followed, violating several principles of Law 340-06 on public procurement and contracts.

The social policy cabinet hired 54 artists for a sum of 55.6 million pesos, which were paid, based on violations of regulations on public contracts.
