“I had a cough, a fever, difficulty breathing and decay, and when I had an urgent screening at the polyclinic, I got bronchopneumonia in both lungs. I was immediately sick, as if I had something to erase. To be honest, when they put me in the ambulance, already sent to Naval (Luis Díaz Soto Central Military Hospital), I looked at my husband and said, Robert, I’m going to die. For him, it was a very big blow, it had a big impact and also for my mother.
The assistant who was with me in the ambulance treated me very well, very well, he told me: You are not going to die, to breathe, they immediately put oxygen in my ambulance and ran to the hospital. When they arrived, I heard the nurse say: This patient goes to therapy, I don’t know what they told him, but he answered me: I will take her to therapy, until I leave her in therapy I will not leave here.
I realized that they were running with me on the stretcher to therapy, I saw the windows, I saw in the distance like a doctor, I closed my eyes and never opened them. ANDI was hospitalized at the Naval Hospital between April 6-28, I entered a critical, serious, life-threatening condition, there I was in therapy from the moment I entered until I left the hospital. I was intubated for 18 days, the doctors did not count on me, because I did not respond to medication, which was influenced by my diseases, one of them is Cushing’s Syndrome, I am also hypertensive, type 2 diabetes.
While I was in a coma, I felt nothing, nothing or what they did to me. After 18 days in which I was intubated, because I did not answer, they brought me to the salon and did a tracheostomy and then I came to react. I had a strange dream, that it was something fashionable, something was spinning and there were many beautiful dresses of all colors and they told me: you have to wear white and I should wear purple and see blue and finally I opened up eyes and the first thing I said was: water. A nurse told me: calm down, calm down, everything is fine.
The first thing I asked the doctor: how is my family? I live with my mother, my 93-year-old grandmother, my husband and my uncle. Thank God the four didn’t get the virus. That made it a lot easier for me.
Dr. Beatriz always said to me: Mileidys, the truth is that you are a warrior, you are very strong, but I didn’t know why he told me that. Dr. Rafael always came in, they all passed by and said to me: Mileidys, many have called you, there are many people who love you. They asked me about Robertón, who is my husband. Then I started: I’m hungry, give me yogurt. It is said that since I reacted, I started asking for food.
It was very sad, unpleasant, which I will never forget. I want to ask everyone to take care of themselves, because this is a very bad experience, very unpleasant and very sad. You have to be very careful and follow all the rules that are provided to avoid catching this virus, because it is very difficult both for the person who catches it and for the family that suffers from it and for the doctors who are not used to losing anyone. , they always want to save all lives. Even so, when you get out of this, you have everything that happened in your mind and you are afraid of not having a recurrence again, of having a recurrence.
I would like to thank the group of nurses, almost all of them were men and they were always with me supporting me, they encouraged me a lot, I would like to thank especially the nurse Ernesto Rivera who was with me all the time, as I say, did not let go my hand and Alexei’s nurse, who were the two who were with me the most during my stay; but also to the others, to all those who have been with me in one way or another and thank the entire management of the Naval Hospital.
To all his doctors and, in this case, I have to thank the therapists who were with me very much, I would like to say their names, because I thank them for being alive: Dr. Beatriz Santiesteban, Daniela Olivo, Ariadna Sánchez, Rafael Venegas Rodríguez (head of therapy, Regina Mileydis used to call me), Raúl Santana Sánchez, Pedro Aroche Díaz and Rubén Peña Ruiz. Thank you every day for saving my life, because I was honestly born again, I thank Cuban medicine, all the scientists, the Cuban government that supported us, for me they are an achievement, a miracle of Cuban medicine ”.
