Mike Patton, April O’Neil, Krang and Faith No More, among the radial details in the TMNT trailer: Shredder’s Revenge

Are the characters being teased?

Yesterday he saw the editor Dotemu coming out of the channel (erm … without upset) with the announcement of a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade fighter.

TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge is being developed for PCs and consoles at Tribute Games – a studio not only responsible for the fun Mercenary kings, but which also hosts developers who worked on Ubisoft’s great 2010 brawler Scott Pilgrim Vs. The world: The game. Driven by this trinity of brand nostalgia, studio and frantic fans, it is fair to say that much of the internet lost its collective mind when the trailer came out yesterday morning.

From the short game teaser, it is clear that TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge hopes to capture the wonderful multiplayer action from Konami’s 1989 classic arcade Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and its continuation since 1991, Turtles in time. With fans suffering from severe shocks at the announcement, there are some details presented in the trailer that could have gone through them.

Surprisingly, the animated prologue features a sequence in which April O’Neil throws debris at two Foot Clan suckers, the Channel 5 news reporter landing a sweet side kick. This is then followed by a shot by the Turtles tutor, Master Splinter, ninja-dashing through a sewer tunnel, swinging his cane like a maniac. These scenes involve – although it is pure speculation – that both characters could be played in the new brawler. After all, it is rare for Miss O’Neil to be described as hitting her ass in such a way. I definitely hope that these icons join the list and I’m sure many of you would agree.

As for the villains, we’ll see The Shredder and his Foot Clan, as well as the terrible two from Bebop and Rocksteady. Appearing in the prologue is also a doomed scientist, Baxter Stockman, a Triceraton and a destroyed “Mouser” – Stockman’s fighting droids, angry and with sharp jaws. In particular, during the foreground in April, we can see the awful appearance of the leader Dimension X Krang, briefly seen on a TV screen behind her.

Perhaps the most surprising appearance of all belongs to vocalist Faith No More and avant-garde musician Mike Patton, whose interpretation of the iconic theme of the TV show’s soundtrack to the trailer. While TMNT is definitely far from the works of Mr. Bungle or Fantomas, the addition of Patton adds a lovely element of … well … madness to the whole business.

Dotemu’s work with recent releases such as Wonder Boy: The Dragon Trap and excellent The streets of anger 4 gave them the reputation of masters of retro remakes. Deep fighting mechanics, fun features, a solid selection of characters and lots of nice cameo fans and Easter eggs (Casey Jones, anyone?) TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge it might prove to be the best digital Turtles launched since 1993 Tournament fighters. One thing is for sure … it will be a long wait …

Now, if you don’t mind, I have to go and start my online petition for Irma DLC.
