The first series generated substantial noise and scared Netflix viewers from intelligence in 2018.

But the creator of Haunting of Hill House, Mike Flanagan, shattered the hopes of fans of the anthology series who were wondering about a potential third season of Haunting of Bly Manor this year.

Writing in a tweet Wednesday morning, the 42-year-old Flanagan responded to a viewer who asked, “Do you have a chance for another chapter of Haunting in the future?”

“At the moment there are no plans for more chapters,” he wrote.

“He never says, of course, but now we are focused on a complete list of other @intrepid projects for 2021 and beyond. If things change, we will let everyone know! ‘

Intrepid is the hand for Intrepid Pictures, a production company founded in 2004, currently co-led by Flanagan, which has produced feature films such as last year’s Doctor Sleep.

The year 2018 The Haunting Of Hill House, based on the book of the same name by Shirley Jackson, starred Henry Thomas, Carla Gugino, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Kate Siegel and Victoria Pedretti.

The series received stellar reviews from both critics and viewers, scoring 93 and 91%, respectively, for the critical composite score and the average audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

This year The Haunting Of Bly Manor played the same group of actors playing different roles in a dark gothic love story based on the ghost story of Henry James’s 1898 The Turn Of the Screw.

The latest installment, although it managed to impress critics somewhat, disappointed viewers who generally considered it too slow.

Bly Manor managed to score 87% in the critics for Rotten Tomatoes, but the audience score of the series dropped to 62%.

But while the prospect of new Haunting chapters seems unlikely, more material from Flanagan and Intrepid is indeed on the horizon: Deadline reports that Intrepid Pictures signed an exclusive TV deal with Netflix last year.
