The Directorate General of Migration (DGM) has started the plan for the illegal regularization of 115 thousand Venezuelan citizens living in the Dominican Republic.
Venezuelans have to go through a series of steps, starting with the submission of the required documents, remembering that they have to provide an active e-mail to receive any type of information and address where they live in the country, among other requirements.
The foreigners received the details from the immigrant staff. about the legal procedures and the submission of the documents they have to carry out in order to start the regularization process.
Pedro Peralta, who will be responsible for the process, explained that interested parties can access the agency’s digital platform, where they can find out about any concerns.
The opening ceremony was attended by the representative of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Josue Gastelbondo, who said that this institution is an ally of the DGM Directorate, to accredit Venezuelan organizations and guide them in everything necessary. .
He stressed that this international entity supports the implementation of this plan and for this it has offices in five provinces of the country, so that those who need information can receive them in this way.
He also indicated that the IOM will have 26 officials who will work with the DGM to support the process of helping Venezuelan citizens who are in the country illegally.
IOM in support of the DGM donated equipment and invested in staff, as well as for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to issue visas to Venezuelans and strengthen the eight Venezuelan civil society organizations so that they can obtain free guidance, as well as provide technological equipment and helps low-income families in that country so that they can access the plan to regularize their status in the Dominican Republic.
Migration stressed that once this process begins, the initiatives of President Luis Abinader are met, so that the citizens of that nation have a legal status and can work and study in the country without problems.
