Migration allows for error-free printing of passports in the United States

Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

The Passport Management of the National Institute of Migration (I.NM) reported that four printing houses of passports in the United States work normally and without reporting errors.

A few weeks ago, the failure of the printing machine was known to the New York Consulate, but it has already been fixed, the INM passport manager confirmed, Herbert Garcia.

The maintenance of the printing equipment abroad corresponds to migration, while the authorization of data and printing to the Ministry of Foreign Relations.

Due to the demand for passports by Hondurans in the United States, other printing companies had to support them. “Houston, Charlotte and Chicago are in most demand,” explained Garcia.

Passport printers are located in the cities Atlanta, Dallas, Washington, New York and Miami. All are technically able to print passports.

Figures from the INM show that from November 2020 to January 2021, approximately 24,767 passports were printed in the United States and 4,259 in Spain.

As for Honduras, appointments in Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula and La Ceiba will be granted until March this year due to demand and the need for renewal due to the biosecurity measures to be enforced in the pandemic.

The INM advised citizens to make use of this institution’s electronic platforms to enforce mandatory social distancing.
