Microsoft has been trying to buy Pinterest in recent months: report

Microsoft Corp. has opened to buy Pinterest Inc. In recent months, the Financial Times reported Wednesday night.

Acquisition talks are not active at the moment, FT reported, adding that in the past Pinterest has signaled its preference to remain an independent company. FT reported that Microsoft’s acquisition strategy targets active online communities that it can associate with its cloud platform.

has a current market valuation of approximately $ 50 billion, supported by a 36% increase in its shares in the last three months. The online dashboard platform exploded during the pandemic because users had more time available. In the last 12 months, Pinterest shares have increased by 239%.

Last week, Pinterest reported that it added 100 million new users in 2020 and recorded a 76% increase in quarterly revenue from year to year.

A deal would probably have been Microsoft’s largest acquisition ever, about twice as big as its $ 26 billion LinkedIn acquisition in 2016, but it would also have been aimed at antitrust regulators.
