If Windows 10 prompts you to upgrade, we recommend that you continue to delay it, as the latest Microsoft patch is causing problems for gamers. It’s a story as old as time or at least as old as the operating system, with players flooding a Reddit thread to complain that their games are almost impossible to play with the latest update installed.
Problems range from Vsync issues to stuttering games, falling frames and, in some cases, frequent BSOD crashes. It’s far from an isolated incident, with many comments identifying that updating Windows 10 is to blame, and it doesn’t look like you’ll be safe on either side of the color spectrum. The green, blue and red team are all affected by a wide range of Nvidia and AMD graphics cards and Intel and AMD processors captured in the mix.
Problems appear to be present on Windows 10 versions KB5001330 and KB5001337, according to a Computer Base report. Nvidia issued a statement regarding this issue, saying “if you see lower performance in games, check to see if Windows 10 Update KB5000842 fixes the issue.”
Redeemers offers a non-exhaustive list of games that suffer from the upgrade, including Doom Eternal, Call of Duty: Warzone and Red Dead Redemption 2, although there could be many more. There are ways to increase fps if Windows 10 doesn’t take no for an answer, which it doesn’t do on a regular basis, but there’s no guarantee these methods will help, so it’s best to get back to your update if you’re stuck with rampant fps problems that did not exist before.

A little responsibility – we wouldn’t do it always we recommend that you do not keep your Windows up to date. When Microsoft doesn’t destroy the best gaming PC, most updates help keep your computer as secure as possible.
